Flying does not mean you can’t look chic

While flying is nothing but a necessary evil to getting to the destination, be it an exotic spa where we’re vacationing or something business-related, that does not mean that we should look worse for when getting off the plane. As a matter of fact, there are plenty of steps, small steps, that we can take to make sure we’re as gorgeous on a plane as we’re on the ground.

First thing that most women tend to forget when they plan for a trip is that boarding the plane and the flight itself should be given proper attention as well. Appearances matter here too, no matter everything else we hear from other people, so looking disheveled and unkempt during a flight should be unpardonable for all women out there. Tracksuits, for instance, are exactly the opposite of looking good. Stylists tell us, and with good reason, that tracksuits have been invented for the gym and that’s where they should stay, no matter how comfortable they are or the flight long.

Instead, we can choose a pair of comfy and good looking jeans, and, if the flight is more than a couple of hours long, there is also the option of taking a spare pair of pants with us on the plane and change into them for the duration of the journey. To jeans, we can match tops and sweaters of cashmere and other soft fabrics, preferably in sweet shades, such as light pink, peach and beige, which will not only be comfortable but will also take some of the exhausted look we’re bound to have by the time the “ordeal” is over.

Ballet flats and large sunglasses are yet other two items we must not forget at home, the former meant for our own comfort, the latter to hide the gaunt eyes we’ll have when the plane lands. We could even try to have some makeup products with us – nothing too fancy, of course – but only granted we’re not the type that looks even worse with makeup when tired than not at all. Deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrush are, of course, optional depending on the duration of the flight, but mandatory if you want to think ahead of the game.

A clutch and a well-sized bag (Louis Vuitton took care of that for us) should also not lack from our “flight equipment,” both being the perfect solution for some of the items above, as well as money, papers, tickets, books, magazines or whatever else we might take with us to make time go by faster. Last but not least, if the flight lasts longer than two hours, consider taking with you a pair of warm socks, or even those special flight socks that maintain circulation in the legs.

Knowing now that you will look ever so gorgeous when you get off the plane, have a nice and comfortable flight.
