The creators of the world's first collaborative photographic encyclopedia, Fotonauts today announced the newest addition to their iOS portfolio - Fotopedia Paris.

Described as a visual journey allowing users to explore the most familiar or the most unexpected sights, Fotopedia Paris features a plurality of virtual excursions to choose from, like walking around Montmartre or the grandeur of Versailles.

Users can also choose to build their own tours by simply picking their favorite photos.

The folks at Fotonauts say their new app is ideal for dreamers, explorers and travelers, photography enthusiasts, city lovers, families, educators, and anyone who needs a vacation.

In addition to using the app to get away from the daily routine, users can also handpick their favorite images to turn them into wallpapers for their iPhone.

The key features of Fotopedia Paris include:

- More than 4,000 spectacular photos - Virtual Trips to the most popular places as well as the unexpected - Trip Builder to create your own, easy-to-build personal virtual tours - Instant Slideshows and Wallpapers for your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch - Social Media Integration to easily share your favorite images via email, Facebook and Twitter - Complete Navigation with Smart Tags, search and interactive maps - Rich Information with complete text descriptions - Shuffle or shake your device to discover new spots and images

“We created this app for the people who dream of Paris. It is a fun way to discover and explore the city without leaving your home,” said Jean-Marie Hullot, CEO, Fotopedia.

“It is not a travel guide,” Hullot added, “it is an app to explore, learn and get inspired. […] this app will most likely satisfy and surprise you at the same time,” Hullot concluded.

Fotopedia Paris works with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and requires iOS 4.0 or later.
