That's what a brief and admittedly questionable survey revealed at least

A survey involving just 1,000 people isn't going to perfectly reflect the opinion of 313 million people, but it can work well as a case study regardless, and that's why OnePoll and CEL went out of their way to conduct one regarding 3D printing.

With funds provided by CEL (the makers of the Robox 3D printer), the folks at OnePoll went out to ask Americans whether they'd like to buy a 3D printer for their home.

After asking that question to one thousand people, it turned out that a third liked the idea. Not too surprisingly, respondents aged 18 to 24 were the ones most amenable.

Of that third, 65% wanted to use it to make small landscaping items and other trinkets to customize their homes.

There also seems to be a healthy interest in 3D printing objects instead of buying them from a store (36% of the third), while another part of the pro-3D printer crowd (35%) said they wanted 3D printers for their repair potential (to make repairs in the home).

Also, personalized gifts were on the minds of 33% of the respondents, while 17% were considering wedding favors.

It's a bit surprising that only 28.5% of respondents were thinking of accessories for their gadgets.
