With Windows Vista, Microsoft has provided a luxuriant variety of deployment tools such as Windows Automated Installation Kit + Imaging Tools and Windows PE, Application Compatibility Toolkit, User
State Migration Tool and Vista's Desktop Deployment Solution Accelerator. All these are designed to lend a helping hand with the issues associated with the end-to-end deployment process of Windows Vista.
One of the problems Microsoft customers are facing is the decentralization status of deployment related tools. “In the past, we would throw all these tools at you and let you figure out then what do you do with them all. How do you put them all together to have that whole process working from end to end,” commented Michael Niehaus, Microsoft Systems Design Engineer.
Microsoft Solution Accelerator for Business Desktop Deployment 2007 centralizes all the tools related to Vista deployment. The Business Desktop Deployment 2007 is currently in Beta 2. It was designed to deliver a solution that would put together all the pieces of the Windows Vista and Office 2007 deployment puzzle.
Microsoft is in the final testing stage with the Solution Accelerator for Business Desktop Deployment 2007, but finalization is not far away. “In the next two to three weeks will finish up the testing and will make it available for download. Out target is November 30. In the worst case we may slip a day or two,” added Niehaus.
