Hot spoons can make almost all bug bites feel better

Mosquitoes are one of the most annoying pests out there, there's no denying it. Not because they seem unable to get enough of our blood, but because they have this odd pleasure of inflicting pain and causing itchiness every time they bite us.

Honestly, it's like they want to remind us that, as high and mighty as we like to think we are, the truth is we don't really stand a chance against them and their blood-sucking appendage.

The good news is that, as surprising as it may sound, there is one very simple way to treat fresh mosquito bites and make sure that they never again hurt or itch.

All you have to do is grab a spoon, heat it under hot water, and then press it against the bite. Pretty straightforward, right?

Life Hacker explains that, whenever one such insect feeds on a living creature, it injects proteins that keep the blood from clotting. These proteins are the ones that trigger itchiness.

Because of their chemical make-up, the proteins that a mosquito injects into its unsuspecting victim get destroyed whenever they are exposed to heat.

The result is that, though the skin may remain swollen for a while, the discomfort is pretty much gone.

I have to admit that I haven't yet tested this wacky way of treating mosquito bites, but here's to hoping I'll soon get the chance.
