With size 0 models still walking the catwalk, much to the dissatisfaction of critics of this fashion trend, regular women are now given the opportunity to stop being ashamed if they have a fuller figure, and even to embrace it. The hourglass dress, famous back in the days when fashion did not encourage and promote skinny silhouettes, is now making a grand comeback, fashion insiders are saying.

Unlike other types of toilettes now available, the hourglass dress is perhaps the regular woman’s best friend, because it helps her regain her self-confidence while also making the best of her natural assets, stylists explain. As one can easily imagine, the hourglass dress places a lot of emphasis on the chest, waist and hips, at the same time, marking a clear departure from the previous style that required women to be simply as thin as possible.

A female wearing such a dress “looks as if she has been poured into her dress and has forgotten to say ‘when,’” as stylists tell the Daily Mail, since everything about her “spilleth over.” That is not to say, of course, that we’re dealing with some unsightly mass of body fat, but simply about being confident in one’s body even if it does not meet the Hollywood standard of beauty, which still requires plenty of hours in the gym and the strictest of diets to achieve.

An hourglass dress should be, the same stylists maintain, as simple as possible to create the best impression. “For maximum impact, opt for a self-colored dress (prints will detract from that all-important silhouette), swing a cardie over your shoulders, and you’re good to go.” fashion insiders point out about the aforementioned complications. As for the range of colors available, it is practically endless: this spring, anything from black, dark blue and grey, to golden, pink and violet goes with an hourglass dress.

Matched with a pair of adequately high pumps and a small clutch, this is one outfit that can cause a stir both at the workplace and when out about town, stylists further underline.
