Are we getting deafer?

This piece of news is nothing more than another proof (is anyone counting?) that our world gets noisier and noisier; I am less willing myself to believe that all of a sudden in these last years people have raised consciousness regarding their listening habits in all sorts of environments and this was the trigger for the avalanche of noise-canceling headphones on the today market.

In fact, the way I and others see the problem is that the noise canceling headphone is one contraption which is actually intended to somehow protect our hearing sense by preventing us from being in need to pump up the volume. Basically, the principle could be described in common terms like "I'll protect you from hearing the outside noise, just don't turn up the volume". There are others that claim things aren't quite so... they're free to believe whatever they want, of course.

Anyway, here's the fact: JVC has just announced today (July 13) the addition of a new high-end headphone set to their existing series of noise canceling gear. The Victor Company say that the new model, the HA-NC250 will sport 50mm neodymium-loaded drivers and a very deep and enthralling sound response. At the same time, they come with a 4-foot long detachable cord and with a 1.5V AAA battery power compartment whose lifespan goes around 50 hours.

JVC declares that patents have been also applied for the new cushioning architecture with dual chambers and which allows the use of the JVC HA-NC250 without the imperative need to switch on the noise canceling circuit.

The HA-NC250 sport a foldable make for easy carrying around and they come with a slim carrying case. The announced release date is early August with a price one nickel short of $200.
