Ultra-secure USB flash drives are becoming more and more popular

With all the security breaches we've seen over the past half year, the interest for ultra-secure portable data storage solutions has been rekindled, a relatively large number of manufacturers coming out with certain models that deliver both a large number of GBs but also an increased level of safety for the data contained within them. And that's exactly the case with the latest announcement from Kanguru Solutions, namely the KanguruDefender Pro, an USB flash drive that will (most likely) give even the most experienced hacked a run for his money.

A close relative to the KanguruDefender, launched a couple of weeks ago, the Pro version provides two basic level of security. Thus, first of all, there's the high-level hardware AES encryption, which means that the device will provide a higher level of performance due to the increased transfer speeds, as well as the fact that no administration rights are necessary for installing the drives.

Furthermore, the KanguruDefender Pro then adds a diverse list of customizable options such as unique identifiers, serialization and security colors to make it adaptable to almost any secure application. The device also provides a physical layer of protection, represented by the rugged, tamper-proof aluminum casing, which makes it impossible to remove the KanguruDefender Pro's chip without it breaking and becoming unreadable.

Leaving the security options aside for a few moments, it's also important to note the fact that this ultra-secure data storage solution also provides some other interesting features as well. Thus, the drive is available in 1 to 4 GB versions (High Speed SLC NAND Flash modules) and offers some very good data transfer rates, namely 30MB/s read speed and 15MB/s write speed. Moreover, it's quite easy to carry around, as it measures 64mm x 18.5mm x 9mm, at a weight of just around 10 grams.

Kanguru's Defender Pro drives will sell for around 65, 85 and 130 US dollars respectively, which, let's face it, are some pretty high price tags, but the added security features are most likely worth the extra bucks.
