Police officers do find themselves in a situation where they must state the obvious every once in a while, but odds are a recent tweet posted by authorities in West Yorkshire, UK is unlike any other pieces of advice folks have until now received from cops.

According to Mirror, this peculiar and somewhat puzzling tweet says that, “Parrots are not authorized to supervise learner drivers.”

Apparently, the police officers who said that parrots do not driving instructors make felt the need to do so after pulling over a woman that was a learner driver and found that she was traveling accompanied just by her pet bird.

The woman was pulled over on suspicion of speeding this past Sunday morning, and her car was eventually seized.

The police officers involved in this incident say that she must now face the legal consequences of traveling alone despite not having a proper license.

“The rules of the road exist for a very good reason and it is important to remember that, if this lady had been in a crash or incident, she would not have been covered by insurance as she was not licensed for the journey,” Chief Inspector Mark Bownass, of West Yorkshire Police, stresses.

“Learner drivers should not be on the motorway at all and anyone who takes to other roads as a learner must be accompanied by a qualified driver, have a good understanding of the Highway Code and also make sure they are covered by the qualified drivers insurance policy,” he adds.
