Fans of the strategy genre or the Strategic Command franchise will be delighted to hear that Battlefront and Fury Software have just announced a brand new title in the series, Pacific Theater. The game will offer the same complexity we were used to, without requiring a previous installation of any other product, which means that we have a standalone product, perfect to fill up our strategic needs.
For the first time in the series, players will be able to wage war across the Pacific Ocean, from India, Tibet, Nepal and China to Pearl Harbor and the West Coast of the US and Canada. Also, the game will bring us the biggest maps ever, at 198x82 tiles each, which means even more gameplay for the enthusiasts.
The complexity of this brand new title will be enormous: 5 major and 23 minor nations will be controllable, 20 different unit types with 30 characteristics and stats each will be available to be commanded on the battlefield and, just for the overall historical flavor of the game, over 150 in-game events will be implemented, including the Doolittle Raid, Mirill's Marauders, Japanese Midget Sub attacks on Pearl Harbor and many more, making Strategic Command WWII Pacific Theater the best option for the hardcore strategy fans.
If you ever get tired of playing against the advanced AI, you can always embark on a multiplayer mode, including hotseat
turn-based action, Network and even E-mail play. So, as you can see, WWII Pacific Theater plans to become the best title in the series and offer a truly complex gaming experience.
Although there is no release date set yet, we truly hope it will hit the game store shelves as soon as possible, since it promises a great experience for the most hardcore strategy fans... and we must admit that it's been quite a while since we last received a true quality game.
