When 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' was released in 1993, it proved to be a massive hit for the critics... and only that. Grossing somewhere around $50 million at the box office, it was initially considered by Disney as a major flop.
Until it was launched on VHS and created a genuine hysteria and a huge fan base of teenagers and not only. Now, as Disney is considering bringing 'The Nightmare' back to the big screen (October 20, in select theaters), many of those fans were more than happy to sing the tunes for the 3-D animation soundtrack.
Among them are the rocker Marilyn Manson, Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco, She Wants Revenge and Fiona Apple. All the famous songs will be included on a two-CD special edition that will hit stores on October 24.
'Disney approached our management about us doing a song. And we're obsessed with that film and Danny Elfman [who wrote the score]. And of course I've got my "Nightmare" tattoos, so we were like, "Yes!"', the frontman for the Fall Out Boy told MTV News.
Disney got the same response from Marilyn Manson too, as he will perform the opening track 'This Is Halloween'. Panic! at the Disco will bring their own version to the same tune, while Fiona Apple covers 'Sally's Song' and She Wants Revenge 'Kidnap the Sandy Claws'.
