The new CD player/ iPod dock from Kenwood might definitely make anyone give it a concerned look as it sports the overall appearance of a high-tech bomb in SciFi movies. Thankfully, it is not: you're looking at Kenwood's latest release, the CR-iP500 audio gadget, created to bring great-sounding audio in your home or office. And since the beauty is in the eye of the beholder, we could say that the Kenwood CR-iP500 comes with a rather elegant look, despite the spartan air it breathes.

One of the neatest things about the Kenwood CR-iP500 is its small size: this nifty music mini-center comes with a diminutive footprint as it measures 371 x 175 x 187mm.

And when it comes to weight, the 2.9 kg mass of the Kenwood CR-iP500 makes it easy to move from bedroom to the kitchen if you have to. On the inside, this new musical gadget comes loaded with a CD player capable to handle both audio discs and WMA or MP3 ones; at the same time, you can easily stay in touch with your local news and fav radio shows thanks to the built-in FM tuner, which will store as much as 30 station presets for your convenience.

If you can't part with your beloved iPod, the Kenwood CR-iP500 will help you listen to your music using the iPod cradle. Or, you could listen to the tracks stored on a USB storage device by connecting it to the dedicated USB 2.0 port. The Kenwood CR-iP500 comes with a very handy remote control, to increase your overall comfort.

This audio mini-system delivers a 2x5 WRMS power through its dual 80mm full-range drivers, and this is more than you'd usually need to fill your room with a dense and crisp sound. The Kenwood CR-iP500 will become available in stores in early December and the announced price will be around $280; if you're thinking about a cool and functional gift and you are willing to spend some dough for your close ones, the Kenwood CR-iP500 might be one of the elite choices.
