How can you define a search engine? It is a system that contains a huge database of websites that are organized by category, keywords and other criteria. Wikipedia gives a more detailed definition: "a search engine is a document retrieval system designed to help find information stored on a computer system, such as on the World Wide Web, inside a corporate or proprietary network, or in a personal computer. The search engine allows one to ask for content meeting specific criteria (typically those containing a given word or phrase) and retrieves a list of items that match those criteria. This list is often sorted with respect to some measure of relevance of the results. Search engines use regularly updated indexes to operate quickly and efficiently."

So, now we know what a search engine is. But you must know that the latest technologies tend to make the search engine concept a more developed solution that can bring you unexpected experience during the search process. Remember Mrs. Dewey? Well, that is an interesting search engine?

Today, I will present you an exciting project that is meant to change your perception about the search engines: Jyve. Why is it so amazing? Well, if you have a question, this is the perfect place to ask. All you need to do is visit the official webpage of the search engine, ask your question and then wait for experts to answer you. I must say that when I asked the expert "What is Softpedia?" the answered me that "Softpedia is a site that indexes information and provides downloads for many games, drivers, mobile phones, and software for the Windows, Macintosh and Linux platforms. The site also indexes major technology, science, health, and entertainment news both from ticker servers and from in-house sources."

Sadly, when I asked them "Who is Bogdan Popa?" nobody answered probably because the experts are looking for results on the main search engines and Google returns a huge number of links for this query.

So, is it useful or not? Well, it's definitely useful when you have a tough question because the answers are offered by human persons and not by a technology or a computer, an advantage in the relevancy of the search results.

Jyve also contains an attracting feature that helps you to find more information about your question by calling an expert using the Skype application, a program that offers high-quality VoIP communication. As the service is still in beta stages, expect for new interesting features soon.
