Internet Explorer 9 Beta was launched a little over two weeks ago, on September 15, and in the first two days from launch it had an amazing success, by being downloaded 2 million times.

The customers and partners of the newly released browser looked pretty pleased with the product, but the best way to measure success is to simply take a look at the figures and Microsoft estimated the success of IE9, thanks to the users that have chosen the newest company products.

Several data are available and you can have a good idea of the overall impact of the IE9:

A report from Net Applications’ browser usage share was released today and it shows IE9 Beta usage share at 0.25% for the two weeks after launch.

The blogs crazy for technology also saw an increase in the IE9 activity: LiveSide reported that 25% of their readers used IE9 Beta, at DownloadSquad IE6 users were surpassed by IE9 users , and 47% of people intend to try IE9 Beta, according to Network World reported poll results.

To reinforce this trend, there were also tweets like Ed Bott's, saying that “halfway through Day 1 of IE9 availability, 8% of my ZDNet visitors are using the beta; steady increase all day, higher than IE7,” according to Ryan Gavin, Senior Director of Internet Explorer Business and Marketing.

As for the IE8, this last month it continued to rise, allowing Microsoft's browser usage share to grow by 0.57% (for IE8 and IE9), while the other older two browsers continued to decline – 0.63% for IE6 and 0.50% for IE7, according to Net Applications.

Two weeks have past since the IE9 Beta launch and customers keep being enthusiastic about the product, and also, the browser has reached yesterday the barrier of 6 million downloads, two and a half times more than what happened with IE8.

The new features are being testes every day by users and the Beauty of the Web site had over 30 million views, Ryan Gavin says.

So I guess that what Microsoft is trying to say is 'thank you'!
