We all knew that George Miller’s return to the “Mad Max” franchise was going to be big, but probably no one dared to hope “Fury Road,” the fourth installment in the series, now out in theaters, would become the name on everyone’s lips as it is right now.

“Mad Max: Fury Road” comes 30 years after the third Mel Gibson film “Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome,” breathing new fire and new meaning into a franchise that perhaps even the most loyal fans had stopped hoping it would ever be revived.

In between discussions on Miller’s masterful technique, the outstanding stunts performed for most action scenes, and the subversive nature of the film through its outspoken feminism, today it seems like you can’t turn to one side without hearing a few words of praise for “Mad Max.”

“Fury Road” will probably become the biggest movie of the summer, reviving the action genre by being bold, original and, simply put, brilliant.

This long exposition serves as a warning of sorts: don’t be surprised when memes pop up, mashups or parodies, or all kinds of funny / entertaining bits. Feminist Mad Max already has his own Tumblr, and embedded below is a video made by a fan who thought Mario Kart would also look good in the post-apocalyptic Wasteland.

They weren’t wrong: Mario Kart might not be the game you would normally associate with the visuals in “Fury Road,” but that doesn’t mean that they wouldn’t work well together. Because they do: everything, from the slight change in the color of Max and Furiosa’s clothes, to the symbols on the spears of the War Boys, makes for an awesome blend of two well-known and respected brands.

Check it out.
