The C260 Media Player from Teclast

Have you ever heard of Teclast Electronics from China? Well, you're not to blame if you haven't, but I can tell you this: you should actually look up its products, since some of them are pretty interesting and innovative, as for example the one you're about to see as follows, a portable media player with a 2.4-inch touchscreen and some other cool features, like the built-in games, the electronic photo album as well as the digital memo notebook.

The model, dubbed C260 (probably due to the fact that its display features 260,000 colors) does have a little bit of oompf to it (at least for the Chinese customers, I guess), since it features the aforementioned touchscreen that lets the users navigate the menus by simply pressing the display. However, control buttons have not been left out, and it also seems that the device is clever enough to tell whether the display is pressed by accident or not.

Nevertheless, there is one peculiar detail that really boggles the mind. Going against the current trend in technology, the manufacturer has decided to remove any trace of internal memory completely. Thus, if you want to actually use the C260, you'll have to get yourself an SD card, and not even a serious one, for that matter, since the player only supports capacities of up to 1 GB. Other than that, it's all fine and dandy, as you can see for yourselves if you check out the enclosed list of technical and commercial details and specifications:

- Display resolution: 320 x 240 QVGA; - Type of display: touchscreen TFT LCD; - Supported files: MP3, WMA, AVI, JPG; - Battery: internal, rechargeable; - Battery life: 12 hours; - Offers various playback modes.

This rather good looking, yet weird (at least from a point of view) device will retail in China for around 50 US dollars, which means that it is actually pretty highly-rated, considering the huge number of cheap knock-offs which can be found on the respective market.
