In terms of movies, 2006 seems to have been a lot about biopics... and remakes, of course, but the latter don't count now. This year also started on a good foot, especially now that Nirvana fans all over the world are finally going to get something they waited for all these years: a movie about the life, music career and death of Kurt Cobain.
Then again, 2007 caught Courtney Love, Kurt's widow, on a more friendly note, as she is willing - for the first time in her life - to open up about Kurt and her life. In the past, she held really tight to his (and Nirvana's) music catalog, part of which she gave up last summer, after realizing that she is only harming his legacy by keeping it a secret (and going bankrupt... that, too, was a very important aspect of her decision!).
Although the project is yet in its initial stage, it is a good thing that word about it finally got out. Until now, the only movie that covered Kurt's life (of sorts) was Gus Van Sant's 'Last Days', always considered to be an unauthorized account. The official biopic will also benefit from Courtney's participation, as she just managed to acquire the copyright for 'Heavier Than Heaven', a biography written by Charles Cross and which will probably be the starting point for the script.
'It has no script and no director attached, let alone stars. But if the movie is made it will of course be an A list film and high end film', Courtney confirmed the rumors via a post on her official website. She also added that the biopic is now 'in an embryonic stage' and that she's pitching it to various movie studios to see if anyone is interested in it.
