Apple’s management reportedly “liked the imperfections of the piece”

Clearly I’m not one to appreciate the subtleties of visual arts, specifically sculpture. Otherwise I’d have no problem approving of this Steve Jobs totem by Dragan Radenović, whose work is now on its way to 1 Infinite Loop, Cupertino, CA.

That’s right, folks. That strange-looking thing you see in the picture above is supposed to be a representation of Steve Jobs. If you’re wondering what those things on the column are, netokracija.com says they are two Cyrillic letters and the figures 1 and 0, a reference to the binary language shared by all computer software.

According to a Google-translated version of the report, “Work of the famous sculptor won the competition of 10,200 submitted works, and Apple decided to just this statue in future adorns representative company located in Cupertino.”

Apparently, the senior executives at Apple like it just because of “the imperfection of his work although the competition received many other, more specific and computer-designed parts.”

Let me get this straight. Apple management wants a statue (if we can even call it that) of Steve Jobs just because it doesn’t look like Steve Jobs? Again, I prefer to just think I don’t have it in me to appreciate this sort of thing.
