Janet Jackson is officially gearing up for the release of a new album, of which we’ve heard only rumors so far. Fresh out of isolation, the singer is not only talking to the media again, but she also remembers to do something for the fans: only hours after her superb performance at the MTV Video Music Awards, Janet released a new song that will presumably be included on her upcoming album.

Called “Make Me,” the song also bears the heading “A Gift from Janet,” while the player even comes with a pretty red bow to show that this is, indeed, a present the singer wanted to offer all her fans. Judging by the reactions these have had on various dedicated forums and music e-zines, they could never have too much of Janet.

Reports in the media have it that “Make Me” is not Janet’s upcoming single, but it will be included on the next material. However, whether it’s a single or not is of little importance to her fans, who are totally excited that she has finally ditched her whispery style somewhat strained, style and has returned to actual singing and a certain electro-pop undertone with an extra serving of funk. This is “old Janet” and she’s more than welcome back, fans say.

“Janet Jackson has released a new single today titled ‘Make Me,’ and it is Janet in classic form. If you’ve been a fan in the past, you are almost guaranteed to enjoy it. Head on over to the official Janet Jackson site, sign up for her mailing list, and you will hear a high quality stream of the new single. Last she delivered a tremendous cathartic performance of ‘Scream’ [at the MTV VMAs] and today she will put a smile on the face of her own throng of dedicated fans. Thanks Janet!” Top 40 writes of the release.

No further details about the song are available at this point in time, but sources in the industry say longtime collaborators Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis could be behind it. Be that as it may, fans can listen to it here, for free – enjoy.
