On Monday Gearbox has confirmed that they have picked up the Duke Nukem Forever project from 3D Realms, with the launch date set for 2011 and playable demo at PAX.

On the same day Treyarch and Activision showed the COD Points internal currency system for their upcoming Black Ops first person shooter.

On Tuesday Sony put out firmware 3.42 for the PlayStation 3, eliminating the loopholes that were exploited by the recently available mod ship while one of the developers of the Move motion tracking system claimed that it offered more flexibility than Kinect from Microsoft.

Wednesday was the day when the creator of Metroid talked about the next home console project from Nintendo, saying that it will impress people when it is unveiled, while BioWare talked about the data it collects about the player's habits in Mass Effect 2 and how it plans to use them in the development of the new title in the series.

On Thursday Microsoft confirmed that there's a Kinect bundled set to launch on November 4 that will include a 250 GB hard drive Xbox 360 and a copy of Kinectimals.

On the same day Nintendo put out new firmware for the Wii and DS eliminating piracy and homebrew possibilities.

Friday was dominated by the NPD Group releasing the hardware and software charts for North America for the month of August, with the Xbox 360 and Madden NFL 11 taking the number one spots.
