Our review for this week is for the recently launched BFG edition of Doom 3, which aims to resurrect the classic first-person shooter while upgrading its graphics and adding a few new gameplay elements, including the ability to use a weapon and the flashlight at the same time.

The site also hosts Quick Looks for Fallen Enchantress, a new fantasy strategy and role-playing mix from Stardock, and Medal of Honor: Warfighter, the first-person shooter from Danger Close and Electronic Arts.

When it comes to Gamer Diaries, we are delivering the usual two: one for XCOM: Enemy Unknown, which shows how hard it can be to get the upper hand on the aliens in the Firaxis strategy game, and another for Dishonored, the stealth-based action game from Arkane Studios and Bethesda.

In terms of Weekend Reading articles we talk about: the meaning of names in such different games as XCOM and Crusader Kings II and one about Windows 8 and gaming.

We also have the usual EndWeekGame piece and a selection of the most interesting news from the past seven-day period.

On Monday, Sony revealed the features of firmware update 4.30 for the PlayStation 3 while the community found a major glitch Borderlands 2 and a way to get around it.

Tuesday, Crytek talked about Crysis 3 and how it mixes open world levels and linearity and Ubisoft talked about the mysterious elements of the Liberation Assassin’s Creed game for the Vita.

Wednesday, Microsoft launched a new dashboard update for the Xbox 360 and the developers commented on the way the Wii U version of Assassin’s Creed III will measure up with the game on the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.

Tuesday was dominated by the announcement of a Season Pass for Halo 4 and Danger Close talked about how Medal of Honor: Warfighter uses multiplayer.

On Friday, Capcom talked about new content for Resident Evil 6 in December while Microsoft revealed the price of Halo 4.

Saturday we got a demo of how Black Ops 2 can handle 3D and some information on the new Hitman game.
