E3 madness

It's been a wild week, with the E3 convention in full swing and news coming out of it related to a whole lot of videogaming subjects. I still had the time to write a review of Red Dead Redemption, Rockstar’s Western open world adventure, and we've also gotten our regular features, like a Weekend Reading piece on making the West more episodic and an EndWeekGame edition. But the real stars of this week are the news from E3, linked to Kinect, the PlayStation Move, the fresh 3DS and the games announced. You can get them all using this handy link or look below for highlights.

On Monday, the partial list of tracks for the fresh Rock Band 3 was offered by Harmonix, the developer being set to make the game more similar to real-life instrument playing, while Microsoft was rumored to unveil an Xbox 360 Slim, a device that players will be able to soon pick up in stores in the United States.

On Tuesday, the Microsoft press conference included a new trailer for Metal Gear Solid: Rising, featuring quite a bit of sword action, while Ubisoft dazzled its audience at the end of its presentation by saying that it would be publishing a videogame based on the career of Michael Jackson.

On Wednesday, it was time for another surprise, with Sony and Valve saying that Portal 2 was set to arrive on the PlayStation 3, complete with a fresh GLaDOS story line and cooperative mode, and with Nintendo hyping its new 3DS handheld without announcing an actual launch date or price.

On Thursday, Vigil and THQ revealed that Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millenium Online MMO would aim to take a significant market share chunk out of the audience of World of Warcraft from Blizzard with Nintendo allowing gamers a first look at the tech specs of the 3DS.

On Friday, we got a price point announcement for Kinect from retail giants like Wal-Mart, Best Buy and GameStop, all talking about an interested gamer needing to put down 150 dollars in order to get the motion tracking peripheral. Meanwhile, Epic showed off the 3D abilities of the Unreal Engine.
