It's been a pretty busy week for gamers from all around the world, as the E3 2011 conference brought forth a huge amount of brand new announcements, fresh details for already known titles, as well as quite a few surprises.

We've been covering the event all week, and you can enjoy all of our E3 2011-related story on this page. My colleague, Andrei Dumitrescu, was on the scene, and sent forth an array of hands-on and hands-off impressions of some of the biggest games of the show.

In between posting a huge amount of news, we also published a review for Infamous 2, the new PlayStation 3-exclusive superhero game, as well as for the older Iron Man 2.

Without further ado, let's kick off this edition of A Gamer's Week.

On Monday, right before the official start of the E3 2011 conference, Microsoft released new sales figures for its Xbox 360 console, saying that over 55 million units have been sold all around the world. This was also the day when Activision confirmed that the PlayStation 3 edition of Call of Duty: Black Ops is getting the Escalation downloadable map pack.

On Tuesday, we were treated with a huge amount of big news, coming from Microsoft, which announced Halo 4 as well as Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary Edition, Sony, which confirmed the PlayStation Vita name for its Next Generation Portable, while Nintendo released the first details about the all-new Wii U home console.

Wednesday was dedicated to Nintendo, as we ran an in-depth feature on the new Wii U console, while Andrei got his hands on Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine as well as Metro: Last Light. In non-E3 news, Gran Turismo 5 got patch 1.10 that day, fixing many issues and adding new customization options for drivers.

Thursday saw the arrival of new screenshots and videos concerning Assassin’s Creed: Revelations and Tomb Raider, while we got our hands on games like Mass Effect 3, Star Wars: The Old Republic or Need for Speed: The Run.

Friday saw the arrival of some more news about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, while Sony claimed that the Nintendo Wii U experience might be replicated with its PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation Vita. We also got our hands on the eagerly awaited The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
