This week, the review department of Softpedia Games is delivering a long-form evaluation for Elegy for a Dead World.

We also have the last of our Game of the Year 2014 articles, which show the world what our favorite titles of the year were and which are the games of this year that we really want to play.

The Editorials section is also offering some personal views on the attacks launched on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, the silent removal of Steam games by Valve, the way the future of gaming is linked to creativity, and the most important evolution of the console space in 2014.

The Incoming 2015 section talks about the biggest launches of the year and about the reasons why each of them can be important for a group of gamers or for the industry as a whole.

The Weekend Reading piece explains why 2015 needs to be a year characterized by stability and by a commitment, from both developers and publishers, to quality and solid launches.

We also have classic Gamer Diaries that talk about our personal experiences, the EndWeekGame article talks about the video games that we play during our free time, and we also deliver a look back at the news that were the most important in the past week.

The most important gaming news of the week

On Monday, Sony talked about the PSN outage and explained how users of the PlayStation 4 should deal with it as a new Xbox One SDK update apparently improved the performance of the platform.

At the same time, a Kim Jong-un parody game was launched on Kickstarter.

On Tuesday, 343 Industries talked about the schedule for the Halo 5: Guardians testing period, with all included modes, and the developers of Nuclear Throne revealed that a free copy of the game would be given to players on January 1, while a leak talked about the games that would be offered on the PS Plus service in the first month of 2015.

On Wednesday, the Havoc DLC for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare was revealed as coming on January 27 with four new maps, and we also learned that the holiday content in GTA V Online was offered once more to the community.

We took both Thursday and Friday off in order to celebrate the coming of the New Year.

On Saturday, more maps and weapons arrived for Halo 5: Guardians beta and Sony offered some rewards to all those affected by the PSN outage, just as the Destiny black load screen problem got a solution and a major patch was detailed for Final Fantasy XIV.
