This week has been somewhat dominated by World of Warcraft, but not necessarily by the launch of the new Cataclysm expansion for the MMO, with Blizzard attracting more attention because of its long-time plans, which have been revealed via a leaked document coming from the Chinese division of the developer.

And the first three days of the week have also witnessed the posting of three new Gamer Diaries linked to Gran Turismo 5.

Monday was the day when Sony offered gamers a possible glimpse of the consumer electronic future by unveiling, for the United Kingdom market, a Bravia television set that also includes a PlayStation 2 console integrated in the stand.

On the same day, Ubisoft talked up the success of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, saying that it is the fastest selling video game ever, moving a lot of units on the strength of its gameplay and story.

On Tuesday, the Chief Executive Officer of Electronic Arts said that his company still had a plan to beat the Call of Duty behemoth in terms of sales with Battlefield as the main focus for the next year, while Activision has confirmed that a new patch for the recent Black Ops, named 1.04, has been sent for approval on the PlayStation 3.

Wednesday was all about innovation, as Lara Croft has been revealed to be getting a reboot which focuses on survival on an island where she is stranded while Michael Pachter, a video game market analyst, has revealed that the industry will not recover until publishers are prepared to charge gamers for multiplayer.

On Thursday, BioWare talked about the upcoming Dragon Age 2, saying that choice is now integrated into gameplay while rumors have suggested that the PlayStation Portable 2 might have graphics like in the early days of the PS3.

Friday was all about the NPD Group numbers, with the Xbox 360 and the Nintendo DS dominating hardware while Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed are the overlords of software.

Meanwhile more information about the 3DS version of Resident Evil has also been revealed.
