It's been a less busy week, after the organized chaos of Gamescom but we still have a list of all the most interesting news of the past seven days and more than that for intrepid readers.

The Weekend Reading piece talks about how the huge amount of big video games launched during the fall means that all gaming is becoming more insular.

The EndWeekGame feature talks about titles like Victoria II, Civilization IV with a Dune mod and Empire: Total War.

And we also have a full review of Victoria II, alongside some gamer diaries, and one for the new Top Gun title.

On Monday it was revealed that Sony was the big winner of the Gamescom awards, taking home accolades for both Gran Turismo 5 and the PlayStation Move motion tracking controller.

On the same day an advisor working on Call of Duty: Black Ops defended the representation of war seen in the rival Medal of Honor.

On Tuesday we found out about the fact that Blizzard has begun both programming and creating art for the next chapter in the Starcraft II saga, Heart of the Swarm.

This just as the developers at Obsidian confirmed that they plan to have a hard, slide featuring end for the New Vegas Fallout spin off.

Wednesday Microsoft kicked off its promotional efforts for Halo: Reach by announcing a new Monument of Light commemorating Spartans that players can cooperatively built but the company also found the time to announce and price the accessories it will deliver for the Kinect motion tracking peripheral.

On Thursday BioWare announced another piece of DLC for Dragon Age Origins, which will allow the player to have one more meeting with Morrigan.

The same day saw developer at Treyarch state that the new Call of Duty will not be afraid to show off the more brutal side of the Cold War.

On Friday Valve revealed the fairy project that lead to Left 4 Dead while BioWare pronounced video games an art form.
