Some HTC Desire S units are plagued by a strange issue that affects the GPS receiver. It appears that while using a general ROM HTC Desire S owners experience more than 10 minutes of GPS delay. In addition, the GPS lock keeps losing signal.

With the new patch, which was originally developed for North America and recently ported as a worldwide solution, HTC Desire S owners will be able to experience a GPS lock within 10 seconds.

Another improvement included with this A-GPS patch allows the GPS receiver to lock into 7-9 or even 11 satellites. In comparison, without this patch HTC Desire S owners were only able to lock onto 4 satellites.

XDA Developers forum user crypted published the HTC Desire S version of this patch, which is now available for download here.
