Portable speakers have become a common gadget despite the fact that some 2 or three years ago they were looked at with the kind of respect associated with the utmost novelty. Everybody makes portable speakers for everybody as the customers are innumerable and their tastes and ideals vary accordingly; and among all these seemingly countless solutions, here's a new one with a funny look – the Foldable Pocket Speaker.

Well, where does the fun come, you might ask, since there are rather few things that can make a speaker funny. If you look at this one in its packed state, it is possible that nothing looks suspicious.

Unfold it and you'll be amazed as this unit sports a most retro feature in the body of a foldable extension making it look more like an antique photo camera and less like a modern tool for your iPod Touch. Yet, this diminutive speaker can be of great use if you have something to share with the ones around you; because passing the headphones among each other might not be the best option.

The Foldable Pocket Speaker can be used with absolutely any media device that can be attached to a 3.5mm jack, whether we're talking about a CD/DVD player, MP3/MP4 gadget, iPod or PSP. The casing has room for 2 x AA batteries but the Foldable Pocket Speaker can also be powered by an external DC 5V adapter or USB cable; no built-in rechargeable battery, unfortunately.

You also get an LED power indicator, an on/off switch, and a volume dial, to use your Foldable Pocket Speaker in the best conditions each time. There is no word on frequency range (we hope no one is expecting any HiFi performance) or the operation time when running on batteries. The price is under $19 and, in case this speaker has a decent sound, it could really be a seller – especially for those who are still in love with bellows cameras.
