We all love it when Mariah Carey stays focused on her music, don't we? I mean, who could ever argue that she's not one of the most talented singers of our times or that she's best off out of the spotlight? Because, whoever would say that would probably be lying or too blind to see the truth: not only is Mariah an extremely good performer, but she's also very gifted. Well, when it comes to her fashion sense or other side projects, it's an entirely different story, but that's not what we're gonna be talking today.

It's been a while since Mariah said anything about a future studio material and, to put an end to said situation, she just posted a voice message for all her fans on her official webpage. The multi-platinum singer also used the opportunity to apologize for not keeping in touch with her fans, as she should have done, by saying that she has been very busy working. 'I've been really, really busy and when I do get free time, I'm on vocal rest so I can like get back in the studio for 20 billion hours. So everybody's mad at me but whatever (laughs).', she says.

In the long message, Mariah also talks about her upcoming feature film, 'Tennessee', in the sense that she mentions it but refuses to comment on it because she's not 'allowed' to. Either way, the movie - set for release later this year - is said to bring a new perspective on Mariah's acting skills, with various inside sources vouching that she really 'shines' in it. But let's get back to what's most important: the album. Mimi promises her fans that she will do everything in her power to have the material out this year, and ensures them that it will be, as they say, da bomb!

'And yeah, last but not least, the nice songs that I've been working on, I quite enjoy them. I've written my 10th so far and like about…and I guess I'm going to Atlanta next week to work with JD so that should be a stone groove/hit wonder or at least a stone groove, hopefully (laughs). I'm trying to get the record out this year so I'm gonna be holed up in the studio for like the next few months and I will see you when I'm done.', Mariah adds.
