Something for Japan and something for the rest of the world

Filled with news and announcements, Capcom was the closest thing to the king of the 2009 Tokyo Games Show. With president and COO Haruhiro Tsujimoto debating the future of gaming and the R&D and Online Business head Keiji Inafune bringing up the Project Natal development for which Capcom has decided to act as publisher, their booth was packed with hypnotized fans. They also added to the board the launch of Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition that will support the upcoming Motion controller.

The company also had some good news for the fans that came to Tokyo from across the globe. If the Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition, with a Japan only release, didn't really warm the gaijin's hearts, the Western games announced did sparkle a hint of warmth. Capcom announced the release of Sengoku Basara Samurai Heroes for the PlayStation 3 and Wii and a game still under development. This unfinished product received the working title of Ghost Trick and will come out for the DS. Both games are to be released for the European and North American public somewhere in 2010.

Sengoku Basara Samurai Heroes continues the Basara series, so reminiscent of the Samurai Warriors gameplay. Both games offer pretty much the same thing. From a pallet of several warriors, each with different weapons and fighting style, players will be able to choose one and go on a mad beat’em up, endless hack-and-slash adventure through the Warring States of Feudal Japan. Sengoku Basara Samurai Heroes will grant players large-scale battles, with "hundreds of opponents", all nameless, fateless and ready to fall to the blades and other weapons of the noble samurais. The game will offer up to ten playable characters and both the Wii and PlayStation 3 versions will function the same way, with the difference that the Sony version will also offer online co-op play.

The other game announced, Ghost Trick, is a box filled with adventures and puzzles, as it tells the story of a ghost with no recollection of the past. The lightheaded ghost, Sissel, will attempt to solve the mystery behind his death while saving the lives of those who have been so far fortunate enough to not meet theirs. The ghost will indulge in typical activities for a specter like interacting with the objects of the environment in a Poltergeist manner. As given examples by Capcom, Sissel will be able to possess a light switch to taze an assassin or make a bike float through mid air to scare those made of flesh and bones.
