There are a great many external and internal storage solutions on the market, of various kinds, such as hard drives, flash drives or solid state drives, but only some of them have features unusual enough to make them look as though they should have their own category. Granted, there are those products that are noteworthy by virtue of their very high performance capabilities. A-Data, however, seems willing to go beyond conventions and unleash a SSD that not only has such performance, but also two interfaces instead of just one.

The product that has just shown up bears the name of N004 and is the latest addition to the company's nobility series of solid state drives. On the outside, it may not look especially unique. It is a 2.5-inch form factor device with an aluminum shell and a total weights of just 87 grams. What makes it unusual is the fact that it has not one, but two interfaces by which it can communicate with a personal computer.

SATA 3.0Gbps is one of said interfaces and will let the drive act like any other 2.5-inch internal solid state drive. The other connection is none other than the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 standard, with maximum transfer rates, theoretical at least, of 5.0 Gbps. Thus, the product can act as an external solution as well, and the small weight gives it no small level of portability. As for actual performance numbers, A-Data went all the way and enabled its latest creation to read information at 200 MB/s and write it at 170 MB/s. All in all, the Nobility N004 is a speedy, versatile, small form factor solid state drive.

The A-Data Nobility N004 has an eight-channel memory infrastructure and will be sold in multiple capacities, specifically 64GB, 128GB and 256GB. Unfortunately, the pricing details have not yet been unveiled.
