Though most hardware makers generally prefer to stick to what they do best, there are moments when a certain player or another decides it's time to think outside the box. Usually, this means that said company is about to make a foray into another segment. Now, A-Data has decided it should expand its business outlook, which is why it has just announced its entrance into the electrified realm of power supplies.

A-Data didn't just waltz in, of course. In fact, it dragged along an entire collection of PSUs for a variety of market segments, though they all make a point of ensuring as high a level of stability and reliability as possible. To this end, they use 100% Japanese capacitors and are kept cool by the 'Eye of Horus' dual ball-bearing fan, for an MTBF of 100,000 hours. Furthermore, all models are 80Plus Bronze certified (82% efficiency) and are compatible with the ATX 12V v2.92 standard.

The Horus PSUs support SLI multi-GPU configurations and the three LED lights on the fan indicate the output power. Green light will shine for 0%-50% output, whereas Blue and Red will show up for 50-100% and over 100% output, respectively. Finally, all units have a single 12V rail, except for the 1200W model, which has two.

“Entering into power supply unit market continues our strategic expansion and diversifies product portfolio that reveal significant opportunity to increase revenue.” said Andy Kuo, Director of Product Management, Division 2. “With tremendous experience in product development, A-DATA will continue the same focus on quality, stability, and performance that has earned us strong leading position in every market we serve.”

The A-Data Horus PSU line is composed of 550W, 650W, 750W, 850W and 1200W versions, all of which are supposedly already shipping. Prices, unfortunately, are still a mystery.
