Now that September is underway, A-Data decided it was time for one of its creations to expand its horizons, so it sent the C008 flash drives to Europe, where they might grace end-users with their 4GB or 8GB of flash storage.

Though some lines of flash drives sometimes make it a point to integrate security features, especially AES hardware encryption, most lines, especially those aimed at the masses, do not use such technologies.

This is the case with A-Data's C008, a series, more like a duo, of USB flash drives which, though unveiled last month, have only now arrived in European stores.

Measuring 59.95 (L) x 19.83 (W) x 8.85 (H) mm, the two newcomers aim to appeal to end-users through their design and weight of only 10 grams.

For one, they utilize a capless enclosure design with a slide-out USB connector, which provides the necessary physical protection.

“The sleek design features a sliding USB connector, which smoothly extends from the drive at the push of a thumb. The capless mechanical design eliminates the hassle of lost drive caps,” states the product page.

“The USB connector can be made ready for use with just one hand, for greater convenience when speed is a must.”

Also, as far as capacities go, they have 4GB and 8GB of internal storage, respectively, which should be more than enough for copying and carrying a large number of documents, music and, though to slightly a lesser extent, even video files.

Finally, the company offers a range of software tools meant to complement the hardware, the list including OstoGO, UFDtoGo and Norton Internet Security 2010 (60-day free trial).

The A-Data C008 is now available for shipment in Europe in two color options, namely blue/white and black/red. The 4GB model costs 8.90 Euro, whereas the 8GB drive sells for 16.99 Euro.
