Three basic steps for healthy facial skin

In order to improve the quality of the skin, one should only follow the three easy daily steps that most experts consider to be essential. They speak about cleansing the face (or washing it, it's pretty much the same thing), followed by the use of toner and a moisturizer. It is also recommended to exfoliate the skin once a week, using scrub products or peel-off masks. For best results, one should also know the skin type, as a dry skin might need a more gentle treatment, being more sensitive to powerful cleansing products.

 

Some consider that the face should not be washed more than twice a day, and especially not at night, before going to bed, as it might become dry and otherwise easily irritable. It is best to avoid soap-bars altogether and to replace them with a special cleanser, matching the skin type. An important aspect is to remove the make-up using a special make-up remover, since a cleanser only removes the dirt particles accumulated during the day, unblocks the pores and diminishes the oily appearance of your skin. Warm water is to be preferred over hot or cold water.

 

The use of a toner (that should eventually match the skin type and the cleanser) is not considered compulsory, but it is helpful to completely remove what the cleansing gel might have left behind and, moreover, to revitalize the texture of the skin. It reduces the pores, improves blood circulation and prepares the skin for the next step. Moisturizing creates a shield that should protect the skin on the face from the negative effects of pollution, wind, and temperature contrasts. However, at the same time, moisturizing is a step that persons with oily skin should skip, as their skin already has an increased amount of sebum.

 

Another thing specialists bring to our attention is the fact that skin types change during our lifetime, due to pollution, aging, season changes, etc. As a result, the type of treatment to be used needs continual reconsideration. With age, a further step to be taken into account is the use of active treatments, but these should also match the products integrated in the daily routine. The skin on the neck should also be properly considered and tended in each of these steps, as it is also prone to wrinkles and aging.
