It's been more than 30 years since Shadow have engineered and constructed the world's first dual-pickup system for acoustic and classic guitars. Now Shadow steps in the spotlight with a re-make of their famous system; only this time, it is far better and the tech progress is making its presence felt better than ever.
Shadow comes in and demoes the brand new dual-pickup system running on two separate and innovative pickups: NanoFlex and NanoMAG. NanoFlex is the "almost classic" pickup for any non-electric guitar. "Almost" because it is not a soundhole-mounting pickup but a band-like vibration
receiver residing under the saddle and getting vibes from the strings passing above.
This system is the almost perfect one and if not the perfect amping-modality for an acoustical guitar, it is anyway one of the most accurate and responsive. There is virtually no sound decay because the vibe is not affecting the string movement at all; instead, every subtlety of the acoustic resonance is caught and transmitted further to the preamp.
The second component of the Shadow's new amping system is the NanoMAG pickup. One might say it is the ordinary magnetic pickup system one could put on a guitar. Well, it is not! It is coated in an epoxy layer and shielded with a silver-platinum layer: add the active electronics and you'll get a sweet, hum-free output tone.
And if we mentioned "tone", it's the case to unveil a unique feature of the Shadow NanoMAG pickup: so far, it is the only acoustical guitar pickup to produce both the clean and simple acoustic signal, as well as a sound fit for jazz or blues, as the NanoMAG is positioned at the end of the fingerboard, right after the last fret. Freakin' interesting all of a sudden, am I right or not? It's all in the mix, they say. A wide variety of tones can be achieved by mixing the sweet clear acoustic tone from the NanoFlex with the fat and strong sound of the NanoMag.
Weighing less than the classical 9V batteries that other similar pickups and preamps work with, it will not outbalance your usual playing habits and will also be much more feedback-resistant than any pickup(s) you have worked with.
