Mobile phone maker Motorola and wireless carrier T-Mobile have recently announced the upcoming launch of a new mobile phone running under Google's Android operating system, the Motorola CHARM. Although officially unveiled, the new handset does not have a specific release date or a price tag attached to it as of yet. However, the device made it into the wild a few times before, and some rumored info on its release date and pricing is available, along with the official hardware specifications Motorola published on its website. The Motorola CHARM is expected to land at T-Mobile on July 21, with a price tag of $75 on contract attached to it.

Motorola CHARM comes with a portrait QWERTY keyboard attached to a 2.8-inch touchscreen display (which boasts a 320 x 240 pixel (QVGA) resolution), a 3-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with fixed focus, digital zoom and video recording, a BACKTRACK navigation pad placed on the back, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), Micro USB, Stereo Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, built-in GPS receiver, 3.5 mm headset jack, and support for WCDMA 1700/2100, GSM 850/900/1800/1900, HSDPA 3.6 Mbps (Category 5/6), EDGE Class 12, GPRS Class 12 connectivity,

The new phone measures 67.2 x 98.4 x 11.4 mm and weighs in at 110 grams. It packs a 1170 mAh Li Ion battery that can offer up to 300 minutes of talk time or up to 334 hours of standby time on WCDMA (405 minutes and 267 hours, respectively, on GSM). The handset comes with a microSD memory card slot that can support up to 32GB of additional storage space (a 2GB card included in the package). A wide range of services would be preloaded on the new device, including MyAccount, Audio Postcard, Visual Voice Mail, My Album, Slacker Radio from T-Mobile, or Gmail, Google Maps Navigation, Google Talk, Google Search or YouTube.

Motorola CHARM will be the first device in the U.S. to feature an enhanced version of MOTOBLUR built on Android 2.1, which syncs contacts, posts, messages, photos and much more in easy to manage streams — from sources such as Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Gmail, work and personal e-mail. MOTOBLUR now allows for even greater customization, providing users more options to follow who and what really matters. MOTOBLUR filters can be selected from a single social networking account, contacts, group or messaging account so that users can select only the information they want to stream live to the Happenings and Messages widgets,” Motorola announced.
