10 Optimus devices to land in 2010

On Monday, South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics announced the release of new handsets, included in the company's Optimus series. According to LG, the new LG Optimus Series should prove a lineup of innovative devices the pack the latest advancements in the mobile space, while being meant to highlight LG’s ability to make the life of consumers much simple.

Interestingly enough, it seems that the Optimus series won't include only mobile phones, but Android Tablet PCs as well, not to mention that the company plans on using various operating systems to power the handsets. According to LG, it aims at expanding its footprint in the mobile industry through offering users a range of choices when it comes to the operating system on their devices.

“The LG Optimus Series is aimed at challenging the notion that one device can meet the needs of many,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “At LG, we believe in providing people with many different choices because our customers are not all alike. We want to provide devices that suit all needs and simplify people’s lives.”

Users choosing devices from the company's Optimus series should be able to enjoy a wide range of options, with handsets and tablets ranging from entry to premium level, so as to fit the needs of more users. LG aims at gaining more market share all around the world, and should launch a number of more than 10 devices under the Optimus brand during the second half of the ongoing year.

“The LG Optimus Series is the result of extensive consumer research and development that delved into the way people gather information in today’s digital age. According to a consumer survey conducted by LG, ease of finding information is the top motivator in considering a smartphone purchase. The research also looked into what consumers liked and disliked about some of today’s most popular communications devices. Not surprisingly, user friendliness and fast response time were high on consumers’ lists,” the handset vendor states.

Among the phones included in the Series, LG launched two Android-based devices, including the LG Optimus One with Google and LG Optimus Chic, both running under Android 2.2 Froyo. As recently reported, LG should bring to shelves the first Android tablet before the end of the ongoing year. According to the company, the solution should be able to offer superior performance to users, although it would be lighter and thinner than competitive devices.
