Samsung Galaxy Nexus is almost official. The handset is expected to be formally announced in less than 12 hours from now, and has already been teased by Samsung, as well as announced as being on its way to Japan via wireless carrier NTT DOCOMO.

The carrier posted a tweet announcing the fact that this device will be on its network starting with November, and a leaked flyer from the wireless carrier has already unveiled the specifications list for the upcoming device.

Just as some of the previous rumors suggested, we'll see a high-end smartphone being pushed to shelves as the next Google phone.

Not only would the new handset sprot a large 4.7-inch Super AMOLED HD 1280×720 touchscreen display, but it will also be powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core application processor from Texas Instruments.

On the back, the new smartphone will sport a 5-megapixel photo snapper with LED flash and support for 1080p HD video recording. There will also be a 1.3 MP front-facing camera to enable video calling.

Moreover, the new device will include 1 GB of RAM, as well as 32GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot for expanding it, which will make it the first Nexus to sport this feature.

The handset is also expected to arrive on shelves with a 1,750 mAh battery packed inside, as well as with dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n and with GPS, NFC, and Bluetooth 3.0.

Apparently, Samsung and Google will bring to the market at least two different flavors of the new device, including the GT-i9250 version that will offer support for GSM networks and which should land in various markets around the world.

There will also be one that will sport the model number SCH-i515, and which is expected to become available for purchase via Verizon with support for the carrier's LTE and CDMA networks.

The handset will run under the Ice Cream Sandwich OS flavor, and should measure 136 x 68 x 8.8-11.5 mm (5.3 x 2.6 x 0.34 - 0.45 inches), while weighing in at 135 grams (4.76 ounces).
