The BBC2 channel announced in its autumn forthcoming highlights the broadcast of a Martin Scorsese documentary, about rocker Bob Dylan's life.

The film, "No Direction Home - Bob Dylan" will include interviews with the musician and unseen footage from his early life and creative period, including his upbringing and his breakthrough years as an artist between 1961 and 1966.

The movie will be broadcast on September 26-27 as a BBC2 Arena documentary and on US network PBS's American Masters arts series.

BBC2 controller Roly Keating said: "Bringing Dylan and Scorsese together for this remarkable documentary on Dylan's early life and the songs that changed a generation is a coup for BBC2 and marks the pinnacle of Arena's 30 years on the channel.

Bob Dylan is famously private and Martin Scorsese is greatly in demand as one of the most successful film directors in the world, so it was a huge undertaking for the Arena team and their partners on this project. But the result is as awesome as you would expect from this fusion of great talent."
