Do you know which is the best way to promote a movie? Well, if you have no idea, I should say that sex or some sort of scandal might give you a clue. And this is exactly what director Brett Ratner is doing as we speak: stirring some old s**t to get people talking for the sake of the sales for 'Rush Hour 3'. Although the movie is already the third in the series (therefore, it has a loyal fanbase and a kind of 'tradition') and is - as the previous ones were - packed with stars, Brett wants to make sure he'll get people curious about it.
But, mind you, this is not the same type of sex scandal other celebrities have accustomed us to. Then again, neither is Brett quite the average dude next door, if you get my drift. While most movie critics refuse to catalog him as a 'serious' film director because of his apparent inability to create concept projects, no one can deny that his works appeal to the public. Just like 'Rush Hour'. So why, then, is a sex controversy necessary? Because nothing sells better than sex.
You see, while doing interviews for 'Rush Hour 3' (which will hit all theaters in the US on August 10), the director revealed that one of the sexual encounters in the movie was inspired from his personal experience. Which, despite what you might think, is not actually a good thing, seeing that he goes on to say that the first time that some woman performed oral sex on him, he found out that she was, in fact, a man. Talk about trauma!
'When the girl takes off her wig and Chris Tucker becomes angry and accuses her of being a man... That's from my personal experience. My first (oral sex) was from a man, but I didn't know it was a man...', Ratner tells the 'Advocate' magazine. With all that, he was not upset or angry or anything because, you see, in his opinion, lots of heterosexuals go through the same experience. 'I'm not homophobic or uptight about it. That happens to a lot of heterosexuals. You meet a girl in a bar, and it turns out she's not a girl.', he added.
Ratner went on to say that, when guys try to hook up with a girl, she shouldn't be offended if they ask her if she's a man or not, just to prevent situations like these from ever happening. Well, I don't know about you guys, but I can frankly say that Mr. Ratner frequents the most unusual bars and clubs. It 'happens to a lot of heterosexuals'? In which time dimension?
