Just like Google dominates search around the world, Facebook dominates social networking. In many countries, in fact, the site is used by the vast majority of the internet population. In the Philippines for example, 93.9 percent of all internet users have a Facebook account.

Granted, only 29.7 percent of the population has internet access, but that's still an awful lot of people checking out what their friends are up to online.

But the Philippines is hardly alone, there are ten countries around the world where more than 86 percent of internet users also have a Facebook account.

Unsurprisingly, Facebook is the most popular site in the Philippines, where social networking in general is very popular - it's the eight biggest country on Twitter, for example.

Number two on the list of highest count of Facebook users and with a much more impressive combination of numbers is Israel. 'Only' 91 percent of internet users in the country have a Facebook account, but 71.6 percent of the population is online.

Despite some of its backwards legislation, or proposed legislation, internet usage is very high in Turkey, 45 percent of its over 73 million citizens go online regularly. And most of them use Facebook as well, the social networking site has 90.9 percent penetration here.

Chile is the fourth country in the world when it comes to Facebook usage, 90.2 percent of its internet users, 50 percent of the total population, are active on the social network.

The fifth place is occupied by another South American country, Argentina, where 64.4 of its citizens have internet access in one form or another. And 89.2 percent of them use Facebook.

The numbers are based on comScore analysis and you can check out the full top ten compiled by Socialtimes.com. With this kind of numbers, it's hard to argue that, at about 600 million users, Facebook is still only scratching the surface of how big it can be.
