14 DAY TRIAL // Proofpoint has published some infographics to detail today’s top threats and their financial impact.
The figures show that two thirds of large organizations have reported being targeted by cybercriminals. Furthermore, one in three organizations has admitted being breached. Interestingly, in 91% of all these attacks, spear phishing has been used.
When it comes to cyber espionage campaigns, spear phishing is the attack vector in 95% of cases. The most attacked industries are pharmaceuticals, financial services, and hospitality and leisure.
The United States is the most targeted country (46%), followed by the United Kingdom (19%). In most scenarios, the attackers send the malicious emails to staff members. In fact, studies show that staff are twice more likely to click on malicious attachments or links than executives.
