A 90-year-old man from New York state will go down in history as the oldest pilot to set off to circle Niagara Falls.

The Niagara Gazette writes that John Lawton is celebrating his 90th birthday today by attempting to cross the U.S.-Canadian border 90 times.

He will be swirling and making figure-eights in the skies at 3,500 feet. Lawton will be accompanied by his daughter, who cannot fly a plane.

His son is also a pilot, and he has been asked not to join him, in order to fight off possible rumors about him not being able to handle the flight on his own.

He has also contacted Claudia Childs, the ex-chief of detectives with the Buffalo Police Department, who also plans to take the trip when she will turn 90. However, Child still has a few decades to go until she can make her attempt.
