A total of 14 individuals, five from China and nine from Taiwan, have been arrested by Filipino authorities on suspicion of being involved in cybercrimes.

According to a statement published by the Philippines Bureau of Immigration, the suspects were first arrested last month.

Now, they’ve been rearrested after the agency learned that they had posted bail and were about to be released from jail.

The alleged cybercriminals will be deported, but only after a Filipino court reaches a verdict in their case.

“If convicted, they will have to serve their sentences first before they are deported,” Bureau of Immigration Officer-in-Charge Siegfred Mison stated.

These 14 individuals are part of the 35 detained on August 6 by the Police Anti-Cybercrime unit. They were arrested in their “lairs” based on a search warrant issued by a Manila court.

Computes, routers and credit cards were seized at the time.
