8StartButton is the latest third-party Start Menu app that received support for Windows 8.1 Preview, so you can now download and install it even if you deployed Microsoft’s newest OS release.

Version 2.0.0 adds not only Windows 8.1 Preview compatibility, but also a redesigned Start Menu with tab functionality for faster and easier access to all apps, Start tiles, and recent documents.

In addition, Windows 8.1 users are allowed to customize the background color of the Start button if a custom image is used, the release notes reveal.

Last but not least, the new version is supposed to fix plenty of bugs, while also add options to specify the size of the start and search panel when opened by 8StartButton. This particular setting is not yet available in Windows 8.1, but the developers might soon make it work on this OS too.
