It's been almost 36 hours since G80 cards entered the market and - as I've previously stated - it is one heck of a card, but with a price comparable to its performance. Because we know that won't stop you from buying it, we tried to check the availability and actual price of the card
in case you want "the goods".
What we found out is that, in fact, there's quite a big stock of cards on the market, probably due to 2 reasons. First one is related to the 8800 GTX series having the resistor problem which are slowly starting to return to the stores with their resistor having been replaced. And that's not a bad thing at all, especially for those of you who fancy products coming from Gainward or eVGA. The second reason is more cost related. You might thing that such a card is worth the money and you would probably be right if you were a mad gamer or a professional overclocker. For the rest, the upgrade is actually of little importance, especially if they already possess a 7900 or x1900 series video card. And that translates into even more G80 cards remaining in stores.
The main thing behind the "availability" of G80 based products sadly remains its high price. In Europe you can buy an 8800 GTX card for €629 or more. As for GTS, that will cost as much as €500. The situation also applies to UK.
USA has a slight advantage, especially if you think that several Nvidia integrators have fabs here. You'll pay as much as $659 - $699 on a GTX card, depending on the brand and $150 less for the GTS version.
