I think the title says it all. These cards are really remarkable when it comes to pure power. Since they cannot be tested when it comes to new image quality features,
as no DirectX 10 was released (yet), the lucky ones who got themselves a pair of these monsters started overclocking them as hard as they could, motive for which - in the last 24 hours - all current ORB records were smashed to pieces by G80 cards.
And the madness has only begun. VapoChill, dry ice, LN2 and TECs, anything does its job if you get your card to run higher than your neighbor's. If you ever wondered how it's like to live in Iceland, now you have the right reason to move there.
Such an effort generally results in a 1st place on ORB, at least for the next hours until someone who's madder than you goes a step forward and reaches a higher stable overclock than yours. Well, aren't we a competitive species?
36 hours ago, a fabulous result of 23000 3DMarks was achieved by K|ngp|n using LN2 cooling on a 680i series motherboard and a Kentsfield CPU. The result is comparable only to other comparable SLI solutions, since a single 8800 GTX can reach the 13000 mark, making it as fast as a SLI configuration of two 7950 cards. 3DMark 2007, anyone?
