Jon Avnet gets ready for his
first project with Al Pacino.
Avnet will replace James Foley as the director for "88 Minutes", a co-production of Avi Lerner's Millennium Films and Randall Emmett and George Furla's Emmett/Furla Films, in which Al Pacino has the main part.
The shooting of the movie, based on a screenplay written by Gary Thompson 9The fast and the Furious), is set to start on October 15, in Vancouver.
The story of the movie revolves around a college professor who moonlights as a forensic psychiatrist for the FBI and has no other choice but to use his sleuthing skills to save his hide after he has been told that he would be killed in 88 minutes.
Jon Avnet, 56, who had previously directed films like "Fried Green Tomatoes" and the 1997's "Red Corner", has been focused lately on his career as a producer. Avnet has recently completed Bob Edwards-directed "Land of the Blind" and "Brave New World", but also stage productions like the Tony-winning "Spamalot" and "Pillowman."
