The holiday season is approaching, fast, and so every video game fan knows that great deals on games and consoles are on their way. Microsoft has already issued theirs, offering every original Xbox console owners the chance to get a free Halo 3 copy. Sony seemingly isn't doing anything to respond to that intriguing offer, but Wal-Mart is. Getting yourself an 80GB PlayStation 3 at Wal-Mart will see you walking away with the respective console and 15 Blu-ray movies to go with it.

How do you like that
Microsoft? Sony doesn't even lift a finger and they already have a counter-offer. The thing is, Wal-Mart is only offering 10 Blu-ray movies to go with the purchased 80GB PlayStation 3, but keep in mind that Sony's old offer - 5-Blu-ray-movies-included - is still standing. So practically, future purchasers of the high-end PlayStation 3 model are going to benefit not from one deal, but from two deals, and great ones at that.

There's another, rather small catch that you might want to hear about before rushing over to Wal-Mart with $400 cash between your front teeth. Sony's 5 Blu-ray movies offer includes the likes of Spider-Man 3: The Movie and the Superman Returns, while Wal-Mart's deal, although attractive due to the great number of movies on Blu-ray, includes items priced at $30 or less, so don't expect the latest blockbusters if you know what I mean.

The deal starts this Saturday and, as megagames.com reports, Wal-Mart already has 4 Secret Sales planed for the 2007 holiday season. This here offer is only the first to be unveiled by the retailer - 10 free Blu-ray Movies with the purchase of an 80GB Playstation 3 console.

Wal-Mart is cautious though: "For those stores that carry BD already, additional titles are being sent in for the sale", said Wal-Mart employee Vonscoot. "For those that do not have BD in their store (a small minority) product will be sent to each store specifically for this sale."

Now remember, Wal-Mart offers Blu-ray movies priced at $30 or less, but it sounds like more than just a good offer if you ask us. Besides, the PS3 is getting its awaited games soon, so why not get the console now, benefiting from this offer too, take it home, sit back and enjoy watching movies in HD, while you wait for Unreal Tournament 3 and Final Fantasy XIII, Haze and other great games to become available for the system.
