Thanks to a consistent demand for Office SharePoint Server 2007, Microsoft applauded SharePoint product as one of its fastest growing servers during the Financial Analyst Meeting 2007. The Redmond company considers Office SharePoint Server 2007 the catalyst behind its Office SharePoint business growth of more than
35%. In this context, Microsoft informed that SharePoint passes the $800 million milestone in sales.

"I mentioned the importance of SharePoint. We have great traction with greater than 35 percent growth this last fiscal year, now more than $800 million, clearly one of the fastest-growing servers in our history. But equally exciting to us in addition to the financial results, the customers are just very excited about what it's doing in their business. We are constantly hearing from customers about how SharePoint is helping them with collaboration, with workflow, with document management, with electronic forms, and publishing business intelligence capabilities. So this is a foundation for us in information work that really integrates, interoperates very nicely with the Office system," stated Jeff Raikes, President, Microsoft Business Division.

"We were confident Office SharePoint Server 2007 would be well-received, but even we have been blown away by its phenomenal success," said Kirk Koenigsbauer, general manager for SharePoint Product Management at Microsoft. "What we hear from customers of all sizes is that they love having a single product that spans so many areas that are critical to their business - from enterprise search and content management to business intelligence, collaboration, social computing and portals."

The over $800 million in revenue reported by Microsoft for SharePoint is associated with just the 2007 fiscal year. The company also informed that according to IDC, Office SharePoint Server is benefiting from a comprehensive adoption throughout the U.S. organizations. With Office SharePoint Server 2007, Microsoft has simply added reasons for corporate customers to deploy the product. Strong emphasis was placed on SharePoint's new document management and search capabilities, as well as the revamped graphical user interface.
